What CarSnoop Is

CarSnoop is a free vehicle screening tool that aggregates publicly available information from government databases. We help you identify potential issues before investing in paid vehicle history reports.

What CarSnoop Is NOT

• Not a substitute for professional inspection: Always have a qualified mechanic inspect any vehicle before purchase.
• Not a complete history: We aggregate free data sources. Paid reports from services like CarFax may contain additional information.
• Not guaranteed accurate: We rely on third-party data sources that may be incomplete or delayed.
• Not legal or financial advice: Our reports are informational only.

Data Accuracy Disclaimer

Vehicle information is provided by third-party sources including NHTSA, NICB, and EPA. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of this information. Data may be delayed, incorrect, or missing. Always verify important information independently.

SnoopScore

The SnoopScore is our proprietary algorithm that weighs various factors to provide a quick assessment. It is a screening tool only, not a definitive judgment of vehicle quality. A high score does not guarantee a vehicle is problem-free, and a low score does not mean a vehicle should be avoided without further investigation.

Limitation of Liability

CarSnoop is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of our service or reliance on our reports, including but not limited to:

• Vehicle purchase decisions
• Financial losses
• Missed information not in our data sources
• Service interruptions or errors

Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use automated tools to scrape or mass-query our service
• Attempt to bypass rate limits
• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Resell or redistribute our reports commercially without permission

Rate Limits

Free users are limited to 10 VIN lookups per day. This helps us keep the service free for everyone.
